Buying a carpet or even a Persian carpet one should know how to clean and make rug care beforehand. This article is dedicated to best rug clean and care. And though Persian rugs are known to be durable and easy to care, they are not immune to contamination. Wool carpets can be contaminated for several reasons:
- Dust, sand, clay and other solid particles penetrate into the carpet pile and can damage the pile yarn, and cause accelerated wear of the rug.
- Fat particles can come from the air can and settle on the carpet pile causing dust adhesion which paints the carpet fade.
- Certain types of chemical pollutants quickly penetrate the carpet and even in case of a rapid removal may cause long-term contamination and the carpet staining.
Thus the best rug clean is not the cleaning itself but observing necessary rules:
- Do not store or lay carpet in rooms with high humidity or in locations where stored or used toxic chemicals are;
- Do not to put sharp-legged furniture on the rug;
- sometimes deploy a rug to 90 or 180 degrees - so you can avoid uneven wear of the carpet in places where it runs particularly frequent;
- Dry your rugs naturally, especially if they are wool;
- Vacuum your rugs more from inside
Any spills must be removed immediately: the longer the liquid remains on the carpet, the less likely to remove the contamination. Old spots can bring a lot of trouble, even for professionals. Therefore all the contaminations must be removed in time, using the following components:
- detergent - crystallized neutral shampoo for carpets;
- ammonia (used diluted one - two tablespoons in 1 liter of water);
- vinegar essence (two tablespoons per 1 liter of water);
- specialized solvent dry cleaning (remover);
- napkin - clean white cloth or paper towel.
If you spilled coffee or tea on your wool carpet you should do the following moves: put the thick white towel on it and wet it with cold water. The main condition is not to try to “wriggle” it into the carpet. To avoid stains, put talc to the spot edges and start cleaning from the edge to the middle of the spot. Use special foams, then dry the carpet and put the nap on the spot.
